"Consistency Is Key"

I’ll give you some quick examples of adjustments I make with clients to really help their productivity. If you think about it, productivity requires a couple of things:
1) It requires a plan.
2) It requires energy—and lots of it.
Using the example of the morning person who’s going strong until they crash in the afternoon, guess what comes between those two times? That’s right! Lunch. Far too many advisors, when asked what they had for lunch, respond by saying they wolfed down their favorite McDonald’s Value Meal, with fries and a Coke. Little wonder that, an hour after they eat, they’re back at their desks ready for a nap.
Do they feel like getting on the phone and talking with clients? Forget about it. They’d rather sleep.
Whenever I encounter a client in that situation, the first thing I recommend is a change in their eating habits. Out go the quarter-pounders-with-cheese. In come the salads with a side order of walking for 30 minutes for dessert. And you know what happens? Those Level 1 and 2 afternoons suddenly jump to Level 4’s and 5’s. Multiply that increase of energy over a 200/220-day work year and you can double your business. Double your results. That’s what we’re going for here.
It is so important to measure each day and take a look at your 1 in 5 mornings and your 1 in 5 afternoon totals of ten. You need to understand how you operate. When are your peak times? What is really robbing you of your success?
Consider: When I have clients whose mornings are great, but whose afternoons take a nose dive, I tell them if we can just get their afternoons up to a Level 4, it will radically change their business like never before. They may have struggled for years trying to get to the next level, but when we make modifications in their lifestyle, and hold them accountable for those changes, the end result makes a huge difference.
For the first month of your business plan, track yourself every next 30 days and again, watch for trends. If you start seeing things that are troublesome to you and maybe even scare you, go ahead and make some shifts.
For example, if you find that every Friday afternoon it is just not happening for you, it is like a Level 1 or 2 day, and you can’t wait to get out of there, then do yourself a favor. You’ve got two choices:
1) Commit to making Friday afternoon a better after noon for you.
2) Say you are going to have Level 10 days Tuesday, Wednesday and Thurs day, but Friday afternoon you will take off. That is fine, too.
I am not asking you to sacrifice like crazy to get a result if it is not going to make you happy. What I want you to do is find a way to get yourself the result that you want every day. More in our next issue! ________________________________________________________________________
